PROUDLY, A LOCALLY OWNED BUSINESS SINCE 1984.
Founded by Rick Morawski and Tim O’Brien in 1984, Trade Hire is proudly a locally owned business. Rick and Tim, both Telstra Technicians, moved to Margaret River to build houses. In the course of their building activities they accumulated quite a number of tools that other builders would continually borrow. Rick liked the term “hire” much more than “lend”, and the idea for Trade Hire was formed along with a business partnership and a lifelong friendship.
It was partly a case of hard work and being in the right place at the right time but as Margaret River grew so did Trade Hire and we soon outgrew the rear unit and took over the whole yard that we were operating out of. In 2005 we purchased Busselton Hire and over a period of time built a team with a diverse range of expertise who have all significantly contributed to the business.
Shortly after this the opening of the Busselton branch, Rick left the business to pursue his passion for building and flying ultralight aircraft and in the last 4 years, Chris Reynolds has become a partner and Managing Director helping the business continue to expand not only its market and client base but its workforce, including his son Kody as a mechanical apprentice, who is showing every sign of wanting his dad’s job, and keeping the business, a local family business.
With things growing we needed someone to run the office, so comes the entrance of another long-time friend, Sue Peskett, who keeps us, and all the paper work in line.
We pride ourselves on being a locally owned business, and support many local charities and community incentives where possible, and we prioritise the use of local suppliers and services. Our slogan “Locals Supporting Locals” is not just a slogan to us and our team, it is who we are and what we do. We are all long time locals and love our little piece of the south west and everything we do to support it.
Trade Hire provided all the equipment to help Margaret River Farmers Market set up their temporary site when they were evicted from their location. We built the sensory gardens at William Carey Court aged care facility. We support Apex and the Lions and many sporting groups and some local Schools. We are also the major sponsor of the Trade Hire Busselton Motorfest, who help out local charity’s and people less fortunate than ourselves and over the years we have become one of the largest locally owned hire business in the south west and now also service some of the largest events held in the area
